Fingerprint This: The Android M OS from Google

Android M, the new OS from Google, will feature fingerprint technology and developers will be able to use fingerprint-sensing features within their apps too. It is an exciting time for tech lovers.

The operating system Android M, which Google recently announced, will feature fingerprint-sensing technology across it, including when users unlock their devices. In addition to it being used to sign into smartphones and tablets, the fingerprint features will also be how users make secure payments on Android Pay and be including within third-party apps too.

The entire Android M OS will have fingerprint-sensor integration. It’s a big step for Google and Android given that many other companies have begun using the cutting-edge technology in their devices and systems in a range of ways.

This fingerprint-tech announcement was made during the Google I/O conference this week, which is a huge event for Google. The conference, in San Fran this year, occurs annually. It is where Google shares its latest developments with the software designers who attend it.

The specific discussion of Android M came during a keynote presentation. Also during the speech, Google announced the fingerprint feature will be integrated into its Play Store.

Other technology discussed at the Google I/O conference included the Android Auto car service and wearable tech Android Wear. As well, Google previewed a 1.3 version of Android Studio, which came out last year, with updates including faster speeds and improved memory profiler. Innovation from Google is happening, and it’s a fast-moving tech world in which we live today.

Android M is expected to release to the public later this year. It is the version that succeeds Android Lollipop. A pre-release version has been shown, but the full version has not yet been seen; it will likely debut before the end of 2015 with new features of efficiency, performance and the fingerprint technology.
