First Month of Sales for Galaxy S6 Disappoint

The sales figures are in for the Galaxy S6 smartphone for its first month on the market, and they are not what manufacturer Samsung appears to have hoped to achieve.

Samsung says “no comment” to being asked to confirm its numbers. While no exact figures are out, it’s clear that the South Korean company didn’t get what it expected.

At the low end of the expected sales is $10 million, and that doesn’t seem to have come quickly. It’s certainly been a tough battle for Samsung, who many call the “iPhone killer” and who has serious Apple competition in the smartphone sector. It had taken a month to reach that $10 million figure, which it only took the iPhone 6 one week to achieve when it first launched.

Plus, Samsung was likely hoping to beat its slow sales of the S5, which were also noted by insiders to have been disastrous. The Galaxy S6 Edge is unique mainly in terms of its hardware, including its innovative CPU, metal case, curved display and camera that includes OIS. However, the shortfall here is that consumers who already have a previous model in the Samsung smartphone line will not have a new user experience by buying the S6. Thus, have not bought the new one.

Meanwhile, Apple’s sales continue to climb. It appears Samsung is not making a rebound from its disappointing S5 sales of last year with the new S6, as it had planned. Now there are S5 smartphones sitting in warehouses untouched. Perhaps this is why three top executives were recently fired? These bigwigs included Lee Chul-hwan, who had been leading the mobile research and development office for the tech company.

What will be the future sales for the Galaxy S6? We will wait to see if more buyers come out of the woodwork to purchase it.
